Appleby 2022 General Images

The 2022 Appleby Horse Fair was the first after 2 years of absence due to COVID-19. There was a genuine sense of delight at being able to congregate and get together in the traditional fair at Appleby. One of the best Appleby Horse Fairs ever, the verdict of organiser Billy Welch and the businesses which stayed open in the small Cumbrian town which has hosted the event for hundreds of years. It is estimated that approx 40,000 travelers, Roma people, and Gypsies attended from all over Europe. The event was also covered by Appleby Horse Fair Multi-Agency Strategic Coordinating Group (MASCG). This group included the police, animal and horse welfare agencies as well as agencies from Appleby itself.
